Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the ScanSmart iOS application ("the app") developed by Aleksandar Milidrag. By using the app, you agree to these Terms.

1. Description of Service

ScanSmart is an image-to-text scanner for iOS. It extracts editable text from photos, PDFs, and live camera captures, and includes a suite of PDF tools (compress, merge, split, password protect/unlock, and PDF↔︎image conversion). Text recognition runs entirely on your iPhone.

2. Free and Premium Tiers

Free Tier:

• Unlimited scanning, text recognition, copying, sharing, and translation — these are never restricted
• Photo and PDF import
• A saved-scan library of up to 10 scans, synced across your devices when signed in. You can delete scans at any time to free up space.

Premium Yearly ($14.99/year):

• An unlimited saved-scan library
• All PDF tools
• Priority access to new features as they ship
• 7-day free trial for eligible users

Premium Lifetime ($29.99 one-time):

• All Premium features, forever
• One-time purchase, no recurring charges

The free-tier saved-scan limit and Premium feature inclusions may change as the app evolves. Any changes will be communicated through the app and a future update of these Terms.

3. Purchase & Subscription Terms

Yearly Subscription:

• Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
• A 7-day free trial is available for eligible users. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription.
• Subscription automatically renews unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the rate of your selected plan.
• You can manage and cancel your subscription in your device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
• Any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

Lifetime Purchase:

• The lifetime purchase is a one-time, non-recurring payment.
• Once purchased, Premium features are unlocked permanently on your Apple ID.
• No refunds are available after purchase, except as required by applicable law (including Apple's refund policy).

4. Account

You may use the app anonymously or sign in with Apple or Google. If you sign in, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You may delete your account at any time from the Profile screen, which permanently removes all your saved scans, images, folders, and account data from our servers.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to:

• Use the app only for lawful purposes and in compliance with applicable laws.
• Not scan or process content for which you do not have the legal right to do so (including but not limited to copyrighted material you do not own, or personal information of third parties without their consent).
• Not attempt to reverse-engineer, modify, decompile, or otherwise interfere with the app's functionality.
• Not use the app to engage in fraud, identity theft, harassment, or any unlawful activity.

6. On-Device Processing

ScanSmart performs text recognition using Apple's Vision framework, and optional translation using Apple's Translation framework — both of which run on your device. No images, recognized text, or other content from your scans is sent to any external service for processing. These features work offline.

7. Accuracy Disclaimer

Important: ScanSmart is a productivity tool that uses optical character recognition (OCR) to convert images into text. No OCR is perfectly accurate — recognition quality depends on the clarity, lighting, and contrast of the source image. Recognized text should always be reviewed and verified before being relied upon for important decisions, particularly for financial, legal, medical, or other sensitive purposes. ScanSmart is not a substitute for original source documents.

8. Photo, File, and Camera Access

The app requests access to your camera and certain files only when you initiate an action that requires them (capturing a scan, importing a PDF, picking a photo). You may revoke any permission at any time in iOS Settings. Permission revocation may disable specific features but does not affect your access to previously saved scans.

9. Intellectual Property

The app — including its design, code, branding, and content — is owned by Aleksandar Milidrag and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes. You retain all rights to the content you scan, import, or save in the app.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ScanSmart and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from or related to your use of the app. This includes, without limitation, loss of data, lost profits, errors in recognized text, or any decisions made in reliance on the app's output. The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the app if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that is harmful to other users or to us. You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made; material changes will also be communicated through the app.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. To the extent permitted by law, any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the app shall be resolved in the courts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Nothing in this clause limits any non-waivable consumer rights you have under the laws of your country of residence.

14. Apple App Store Terms

The app is distributed through Apple's App Store. Your use of the app is also subject to Apple's Standard EULA. In the event of a conflict between Apple's terms and these Terms with respect to App Store distribution, Apple's terms shall prevail.
